Hi! I’m Avery Straw, Lemon Road Elementary’s Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART). I work with all students on Critical and Creative Thinking skills, pull small groups, consult with classroom teachers and teams, and support parents in understanding and navigating the AAP referral process. I’m here Monday through Thursday this year! This is my 3rd year at Lemon Road and my 17th in a classroom of some sort.

I grew up in Southern California and moved to Virginia after high school graduation. I attended the University of Maryland - go Terps! - and Marymount University for my master's degree. I have my gifted certification from UVA. My husband, Josh, and two kids, Ellie (11th grade) and Sam (9th grade) live in Reston with our dog, Albus. I love to travel, read and be outside.
